Friday nightlife in Calabar does not seem as bright and bubbling as it used to be, this is not just because the street lights go off earlier than expected, but also because the major pubs and hotspots in the city of Calabar, Cross River state have shut down their business places for several reasons.

While we explore the reasons why from the residents of the city, we will appreciate any form of information or links to appropriate quarters with facts that will assist our subsequent report.

In the meantime, let's review possible reasons why Calabar Clubs are on Shutdown;

Beverly Hills

When it comes to rating, Beverly Hills is supposed to be 5-star spot in Calabar as a one-stop fun center, probably owing to their 24-hour restaurant, one-storey club and penthouse suites, but the premises is currently locked up either by government for tax evasion, obstruction or because of it's poor management, or both.

Pinnacle Nite Club

Pinnacle Nite Club of the Mirage Hotel, this spot catered for persons of all class, creating a conducive meeting point . The club is currently shutdown due to poor management of the hotel, which is owned by former Minister of Information and Culture, Chief Edem Duke. There are advertisements in several media that the hotel is up for lease or sale, hoping someone pays up soon to revive the hotel and the Pinnacle club.

Jasper 141 Nite Club

Jasper 141 is located on 141 Marian Road. This used to be the spot for the apolitical and corporate sector folks in the city who don't really want to mix up with people of other class. The well designed and lighted one storey building helps them to politely achieve that. As only friends of the owner, high spenders are given way into the V.I.P.

Jasper Nite Club is obviously on shutdown for renovation reasons and work began immediately few months ago. Business is sure going good for them and they are repositioning for the next level.

Shugaland Lounge

Shugaland metamorphosed from a bar-pub into a full fledge lounge - club years back. Its strategic location on Atekong Drive, State Housing by Marian road is supposed to be a plus, but the power of poor management superseded and now the lounge is on lock and keys.
