Artistes storm Calabar for Calabar Festival Auditions


Are you in search of a big stage to present your talent to millions of viewers all over the world? Then join well over 700 youths daily from across Nigeria at Cultural Center throughout the third week of November, for the audition of artistes to perform during the 2013 edition of the annual Calabar Festival in Calabar, Cross River state.
The audition was officially kicked off on Monday, November 25th, 2013,  by the Governor of Cross River state, Senator Liyel Imoke, ably represented by Mr. Totsman Etoty, the Special Adviser on Event, who used the occasion to admonish the youth/musicians that turned up for the first day of the 4 day long process, on the need of education to help them in making the right decisions and steps in the course of their musical career, he also advised them to take good advantage of the platform Calabar Festival offers to showcase their talents to the world.
Responding on behalf of the musicians and judges, the PMAN Chairman in the state, Effiom Trombone called on the artistes to give in their best in whatever they are set to do on the audition stage, and in their career. The highpoint of the first day of audition was the chat with one Toyin from Osun State, who amongst other flop, could not tell the judges the name of his Governor.

The Calabar Festival panel of judges comprises of renowned musicians, broadcasters and entertainment professionals, who have decades of experience and wealth of knowledge in the industry, they will help in the scrutiny of the performers for the 32-day event line up. The panel is headed by Maurice Inuk, having Godfada Petertex, Feladay, Shan George, Charles Oko, Effiom Trombone and Chris Maduboku.

The audition entered its third day, the second day was yesterday, Tuesday,November 25th, 2013 and notable among the talents auditioned was the ESP Jazz Band, wowing the judges with their creative and electrifying rendition of a popular Christmas tune, and Mr. Maurice Inuk hopes to see more talented Nigerian youths come out to to showcase wits and dexterity in various performing arts.
