Debates, campaigns and protests have been sparked across the country as the Nigerian Senate approves of underage marriage.                                 

The list of Senators that endorsed this contains mainly of Senators with northern/Islamic background, some of them must have been practicing this based on their tribal belief or religious norms.

For me, I am not surprised by the effect of a result from the decision of a house dominated by the Hausa’s, irrespective of political parties and differences, this folks had already been practicing this, now they want to enforce it.

Then it is a matter of choice. Can our protests and campaigns bring about a change?
