Violence has returned to the once peaceful city of Calabar, as unknown men shoot at keke owner and burn down his tricycle at Essien Town on Saturday night of July 14, 2018.
This is following the killing of one Effiom Etim Effiom (Etete) by an unknown soldier in the company of Policemen on Friday. According to eyewitnesses, Etete was shot at the Murtala Muhammed highway close to MCC junction. This amounts to 3, the number of persons shot dead in a space of one week.
Etete is said to have attempted to resist arrest by the policemen attached to Homeland Security; a security unit created by the Cross River State Government, when two more trucks with policemen and soldiers arrived the scene.
The keke rider whom the gun men came after is said to have escaped by the whiskers, while his keke was burnt to ashes.
