Towards Interstate Partnership: Delta State Tourism Team Arrive Calabar ahead of the Niger Delta Tourism Expo


The contingent from Delta State Ministry of Culture and Tourism were received yesterday, Monday July 9, 2018 at the office of the Cross River State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon Eric Anderson.

The Delta state team, led by the Commissioner, Hon Chinye Emmanuel are in Calabar on a working visit to understudy the operation and development in the tourism sector of Nigeria's leading tourism destination, and will attend the 3-day Tourism Expo organized by Calabar Hospitality House and Calabar Blog.

Niger Delta Tourism Expo (NTDX) is scheduled to hold between 11th – 13th of July 2018 at the Tinapa Lakeside Hotel, Calabar, Cross River State. The event has so far enjoyed endorsement and confirmed participation of Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN), National Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), Institute for Tourism Professionals, the Institute of Hospitality UK and Women in Hospitality Nigeria, and Nigeria Tourism Development Commission.

Receiving the Delta team, Hon Anderson commended them for thinking it wise to visit Cross River, he made it known to them that their curiosity will not be in vain, as they will acquire adequate knowledge required to drive the tourism sector back home, also assuring them of fascination by the Cross River experience.

Speaking further, Mr Eric thanked the team at Calabar Hospitality House, Calabar Blog and the planning committee for putting together the NTDX. He called on other private establishments to emulate the initiative, to partner with government on tourism development, management and promotion.

While in the paradise city, the Delta state team will explore tourist sites in Cross River State, interact with stakeholders and foster interstate partnership on how to grow tourism sector in Delta State. The visit offers an opportunity to network with other industry professionals, get trained and certified by Institute of Tourism Professionals and Institute of Hospitality, Uk.

Topics and panels at NTDX will dwell on issues ranging from hospitality, the role of the media, the government, security agencies, the locals,  financial and traditional institutions. Creating a forum for series of intellectual discussions by tourism stakeholders, operators, investors and government representatives of the nine (9) states on how to develop tourism in the region.
