The Government of Cross River state has assured payment of all performers owed fees for the 2013 Calabar Festival this week.
The news was confirmed in a statement made available by the state Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria- PMAN
Chairman, after a closed door meeting government officials from the Event
Desk. It could be recalled that some performers at the 2013 edition
Calabar Festival had cried out to the hearing of the press, the
situation of their unpaid performance fees by the Cross River State
Government for the 32-day Festival.

Before PMAN intervention, and threat to boycott the just concluded Calabar Jazz Festival, some entertainers who were yet to receive payment for the services rendered took to social media to share their plight with the general public, fter running out of patience on the issue of unpaid performance fees.
The Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke however did not comment on the matter, he was represented at the closed door meeting by Mr.Nzan Ogbe-Special Adviser to the Governor on Event, Totsman Etoty- Special Assistant on Events and Mr. Sunny Udeh- Special Assistant to the Governor on Admin.
Following the recent development, all owed entertainers were hereby
pleaded with,n and asked to exercise patience till the Easter break is
over; thereafter the state government will commence payment through the
Office of the Accountant General.
