Calabar Carnival 2013 Unveiled in Style

It is about 50 days to the annual Calabar Festival, the Cross River Tourism Board and Cross River State Government, led by the Executive Governor Senator Liyel Imoke unveiled the theme of the carnival this year yesterday at a well attended event held at the main bowl of the Cultural Center. 

Calabar Festival is a 32 day event held to mark the yuletide season in Calabar, Nigeria's number one tourism destination. It is the biggest, longest and multidimensional leisure and entertainment event in West Africa. The theme of the carnival this year is 'Aint No Stopping Us', the unveiling also created an ample platform where cash prizes were presented to the winners in different categories of the competition amongst bands last year.

The current champions 'MASTA BLASTA BAND' shined in bright colours during the outing, as they showcased what made them stand out during the last Calabar Carnival.                         
Carnival Calabar Queen-Sophia Dijeh
Anchored by Double E and spiced up with performances, the event was well attended by the media, executive cabinet members of the Cross River State Government, Senator Florence Ita Giwa, the current Carnival Calabar queen Miss Sophia Dijeh, Actors Guild of Nigeria Chairman in Cross River state-Eric Anderson, PMAN Chairman in Cross River-Effiom Trombone, amongst others.
Dancehall spartan- Spydaman, crooner of 'Carnival Rhythm' was also on ground from Lagos to thrill the audience.
